ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – Oba (Dr.) Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, the Olu of Ilaro, Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, and Chairman, Ogun State Council of Obas, has reaffirmed that the judiciary remains a cornerstone of democracy, entrusted with the sacred duty of dispensing justice without fear or favour.
The monarch made this known on Monday, September 15, 2025, during a special Church Thanksgiving Service held at the Cathedral of St. Peter, Ake, Abeokuta, to commemorate the commencement of the 2025/2026 Legal Year of the Ogun State Judiciary.
Oba Olugbenle emphasized that the judiciary safeguards the rights of all citizens and continues to stand as the ultimate refuge for the common man in the pursuit of fairness and equity.
He charged the judicial system to remain steadfast as an uncompromising guardian of truth and justice, while resisting every form of corruption or undue influence.
The service was attended by the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, who used the occasion to announce the approval for the establishment of a Federal Court of Appeal in Ogun State.
The governor described the development as a landmark achievement, which will help ease the burden of cases and bring justice closer to the people of the state.
Oba Olugbenle extended his goodwill to the Ogun State Judiciary, praying for divine wisdom, strength, and guidance for the new legal year.
He urged judicial officers to remain firm, uphold the sanctity of their calling, and continue to serve as a beacon of fairness and equity in society.
