… Speaker Backs Constitutional Recognition Of Traditional Rulers While IGP Pledges Stronger Collaboration

FCT, ABUJA, NIGERIA – His Royal Majesty, Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, the Olu of Ilaro, Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, and Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas, joined the Alaafin of Oyo to participate in the National Industrial Manpower Summit.
According to a release e-signed and shared with StarTrend Int’l magazine and online platform by ‘Deola Adeyemi, Special Assistant to the Paramount Ruler on Media and Strategic Communications, the event was organised by the Office of the Honourable Minister of State for Industry, Federal Ministry of Trade, Industry and Development, in collaboration with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Industrial Training and Development.
The three-day summit, themed: “Manpower Development: The Bridge between Potential and Productivity”, was held at the Presidential Banquet Hall, Aso Rock, Abuja, from Tuesday, August 12 to Thursday, August 14, 2025.
It gathered policymakers, industry leaders, and development experts to design Nigeria’s first Industrial Manpower Development Policy.
Participants at the summit deliberated on strategies to build a globally competitive workforce capable of accelerating Nigeria’s industrial transformation and bridging the gap between human potential and productivity.
As part of his royal engagements, Oba Olugbenle had the honour of presenting awards to distinguished personalities and organisations recognised for their outstanding contributions to manpower and industrial development.
Beyond the summit, Oba Olugbenle accompanied the newly crowned Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty Oba Abimbola Owoade, on courtesy visits to key national leaders, including the Inspector General of Police, the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Statistician-General of the National Bureau of Statistics.
During the visit, the Inspector General of Police acknowledged the crucial role traditional institutions play in maintaining national security. He assured that the police would deepen collaboration with traditional rulers to ensure peace and stability across the country.
In his remarks, the Speaker of the House of Representatives reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the accelerated passage of the bill seeking constitutional recognition of traditional rulers, describing them as vital pillars of governance and grassroots leadership.
As Oba Kehinde Olugbenle continues to play pivotal roles in shaping national policy and discourse, His Majesty remains deeply committed to advancing peace, progress, and sustainable development in Nigeria.
