ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – The Management of Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA), has lauded the outstanding support of Ologere of Ogere, Oba Obafemi Saliu, and the Onipara of Ipara, Oba Taiwo Taiwo towards the successful establish and operation of the agency in Remo North.
Acting General Manager of OGPDPA, Tpl. Itunu Jolaoluwa, disclosed this during the appreciation visits made to the palaces of the two prominent kings, for donating a parcel of land and buildings for office and residential use to the OGPDPA staff.
He said their proactive supports would go a long way in reestablishing and boosting the agency’s operational capacity in their domains.
Tpl. Jolaoluwa, in a statement signed by, Mrs. Ajibola Taiwo, Information and Public Relations Officer, MPP&UD, highlighting the benefits of the Authority’s presence in the towns, explained that having OGPDPA on ground would facilitate better regulation of development, helping to curb incidents of flooding, building collapses and ensuring a physically planned environment among others in the area.
Speaking, Oba Saliu of Ogere emphasised that his decision to offer land to the Authority was part of a broader vision to transform Ogere into a source of pride for indigenes worldwide.
“My major aim is to transform Ogere into a better place. I want indigenes in the diaspora to come home, and for them to come home, they must see something different and better to attract them,” he stated.
Similarly, the Onipara of Ipara, Oba Taiwo, expressed optimism that the Authority’s presence in his domain, facilitated by his provision of office and residential buildings, would significantly enhance the physical development and overall well-being of his community.
Both royal fathers used the opportunity to call upon their indigenes living abroad to invest in their respective communities, stressing the importance of their contributions in preserving their identity and heritage.
The visits witnessed the presentation of awards of excellence to both traditional rulers, an acknowledgement made in the presence of their chiefs-in-council.
