RIYAD, SAUDI ARABIA – In a significant step towards global inclusivity and religious accessibility, the Saudi Arabian authorities have announced that the 2025 Arafah sermon will be broadcast in 34 languages, including Hausa, Yoruba, and Fulani.
According to an official statement, the initiative is designed to ensure that pilgrims and global audiences can follow the Hajj Khutbah (sermon) in their native languages, thereby promoting broader engagement and understanding during one of Islam’s holiest moments.
The Arafah sermon for 1446 AH, scheduled for Thursday, 9 Dhul Hijjah 1446 (June 5, 2025), will be translated into the following 34 languages – Arabic, Urdu, English, French, Indonesian, Persian (Farsi), Hausa, Chinese (Mandarin), Russian, Bengali, Turkish, Malay (Bahasa Melayu), Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, German, Filipino (Tagalog), Amharic, Bosnian, Hindi, Dutch, Thai, Malayalam, Swahili, Pashto, Tamil, Azerbaijani, Swedish, Uzbek, Albanian, Fulani (Fula), Somali, Rohingya and Yoruba.
The translation effort is part of a broader Saudi initiative to share Islam’s message of tolerance, peace, and unity with a diverse global audience – both Muslims and non-Muslims – by removing linguistic barriers to understanding.
Saudi authorities confirmed the sighting of the Dhul Hijjah crescent on May 27, indicating that the Day of Arafat will be observed on June 5, followed by Eid-el-Kabir on June 6, 2025.
