Alleged Money Laundering: Diezani Pleads With Tinubu To Return Home Amid Cancer Battle, Seeks Forgiveness From Nigerians

LONDON, ENGLAND, UNITED KINGDOM – Diezani Alison-Madueke, the embattled former Minister of Petroleum under President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for leniency, revealing that she is battling stage two cancer and wishes to return to Nigeria.

Diezani, who fled to the United Kingdom to evade arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), is now publicly seeking forgiveness from the Nigerian government. She expressed her desire to confess her misdeeds while in office.

Speaking to the press in London after a recent medical appointment, Diezani admitted to misappropriating funds during her time in office and declared her willingness to cooperate with Nigerian authorities under the leadership of President Tinubu.

“I am a born-again Christian and currently suffering from stage two cancers,” Diezani said tearfully. “My UK physician advised me to continue medication for the rest of my life.” She added, “Yes, no human is perfect. Sometimes, God allows things to happen. I have been accused of misappropriation while I was Petroleum Minister, which is true. I now seek forgiveness from President Bola Tinubu and fellow Nigerians.

“Mr. President Sir, with your intervention, I am ready to return to Nigeria and explain everything. I have written evidence, signed by my lawyer, to support my confession and am prepared to return the misappropriated funds,” she pleaded.

Crying during the interview, Diezani declared, “Nigeria is my country, my home – and there is no place like home.”
