Tinubu’s Visit To Anambra: NSCDC Strengthens Security Around Critical Infrastructure

AWKA, ANAMBRA STATE, NIGERIA – Ahead of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s scheduled visit to Anambra State on Thursday, May 8, 2025, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, has taken significant steps to ensure safety and order.

Over 1,531 operatives have been mobilised to provide security and surveillance across vital national, state, and local government assets and infrastructure.

This development was made public in a release electronically signed and distributed to the media by SC Okadigbo Edwin, Head of the Media and Tactical Unit of the NSCDC, Anambra State Command. The statement was issued on behalf of the State Commandant, Maku Olatunde A.

The deployment announcement followed a high-level strategic and tactical meeting held at the NSCDC State Command Headquarters in Awka. During the session, the Commandant briefed senior officers, including Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, Heads of Formations, and Composite Commanders, on the operational details and objectives of the security mobilisation.

He outlined the deployment strategy, noting that personnel will be drawn from Enugu, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, and Delta states to reinforce security operations in Anambra State.

According to him, the NSCDC in collaboration with other sister security agencies has intensified covert surveillance, increased joint operations, including raids on criminal hideouts as well as confidence building patrols within the state, reinforcing the  readiness of security agencies to emplace a secure environment throughout the high – profile visit.

“The command had made robust security arrangements with sister security agencies to ensure a successful state visit of Mr. President, the first critical asset in the country.

“Our personnel would be positioned in strategic locations including the airport, bridges,  government buildings, parks ,markets , electricity substations, telecommunication facilities, solution fun city facilities, and other sensitive locations across the state before, during and after the visit” he said.

The NSCDC State helmsman while re- affirming the Command’s personnel readiness to line up the identified routes, said NSCDC personnel will be part of the human shield against the crowd obstructing the free- flow of Mr president’s entourage on the mapped out routes in addition to access control of some locations.

The State NSCDC boss while cautioning operatives to exhibit a high sense of responsibility, professionalism, civility, and coordination, especially in synergy with other sister security agencies, advised members of the public to be law -abiding as they troop out en-masse to welcome the Mr President.
