He emphasized that such business activities carry significant safety risks to residents and should be actively discouraged.

Hon. Alebiosu made this statement during a visit to the site of a recent gas explosion, where he offered his sympathy and support to the landlord of the affected building. The incident has sparked renewed calls for stricter control of gas sales in densely populated areas.

Residents interviewed by StarTrend Int’l Magazine appealed to the three tiers of government – particularly Ogun State authorities – not to issue approvals for gas sales outlets located within residential communities. They stressed the urgent need for policy reforms to protect public safety.

The residents further urged the government to implement proactive safety measures and ensure the enforcement of existing regulations.

They also advocated for awareness campaigns to educate gas vendors about the inherent dangers of operating in residential environments.
