Retired Ivorian football legend, Didier Drogba, was recently honoured with a traditional chieftaincy title in a village in his home country, Ivory Coast
Drogba appeared in his native attire as he took part in the coronation ceremony, receiving widespread admiration from locals and dignitaries present at the event.
The prestigious title was conferred upon the Premier League icon by Nanan Kouakou Kouao, the Patient III, the founder of the village where the ceremony took place.
In line with the rich Akan cultural heritage, Drogba was enthroned according to traditional rites and received all attributes and symbols of a Chief, marking his integration into the ranks of local leadership.
