IPERU-REMO, IKENNE LG, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – In a bid to ensure a secured and peaceful co-existence in the Community, the Ogun State Government has embarked on adequate training for community leaders towards promoting leadership quality and coordinating societal well-being across the State.
Commissioner for Community Development and Cooperatives, Hon. Ademola Balogun, made this known at the end of a Four-Day Basic Citizenship and Leadership Training Course for Community Leaders at the Social Development Institute, Shasha, Iperu, saying the programme was aimed at scaling up the skills of residents at the grassroots and bringing governance closer to the people.
Hon. Balogun, according to the Information, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry, Mrs. Yemisi Fashola, who expressed confidence in the knowledge and skills acquired by participants during the training, said it would empower them to make a positive impact in their communities, advising them to cascade the knowledge to others in their communities.
The Commissioner, while commending community leaders for their commitment and support for the present administration in the State, said the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration would not relent in its efforts towards improving the lives of residents and communities, revealing that the Governor had approved the release of funds as loans to artisans, as well as the renovation of the training facility.
Speaking, Chairman State Community Development Council, Akogun Taiwo Lucien appreciated the State Government for prioritising the needs and welfare of residents and improving the livelihood of communities, noting that the training would enhance grassroots participation in governance.
On behalf of other participants, Mr. Paul and Mrs. Elizabeth Adeyanju, while appreciating the State Government for the training, described the programme as a catalyst for self-development, that would spur them to improve in community leadership, advising those who were yet to participate to do so for societal wellbeing.
