OWODE-YEWA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – April 19, 2025 – “I’ve facilitated gainful employment for over 3,000 youths, built 10 out of 18 modern palaces for our traditional rulers, and provided jobs for countless women and the elderly.”

These were the words of Rt. Hon. Isiaq Abiodun Akinlade, the Federal lawmaker representing Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency, as he addressed a large gathering during the commissioning of the newly constructed Owode-Yewa roundabout and adjoining junctions in a vibrant ceremony on Saturday, April 19, 2025.

Hon. Akinlade thanked the crowd for their unwavering support, with special recognition given to the royal fathers in attendance.

He reaffirmed his commitment to urban renewal across Owode-Yewa and surrounding communities.

“By God’s grace,” he said, “contracts have been awarded for 10 out of 18 modern palace projects for our Obas. Since taking office nearly two years ago, I’ve enabled over 3,000 youths to secure employment, while many others now run their own businesses through our empowerment initiatives.”

In his goodwill message, Ogun State’s Honourable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Sesan Fagbayi, praised the project and called on youths to take responsibility for keeping the roundabout clean and secure.

He stressed the importance of protecting public assets from vandalism.

The Executive Chairman of Yewa South Local Government, Barr. Ogunsola Abraham, commended Akinlade’s consistent grassroots impact.

He advocated for additional infrastructure, especially flyover bridges to ease traffic congestion for travelers heading toward Ado-Odo, Idi-Iroko, Ilaro, and Sango-Ota.

Ogunsola also lauded Akinlade’s youth empowerment schemes, noting that many beneficiaries are now employers themselves.

Also speaking, Hon. Johnson Avoseh Akohomhe, Chairman of Ipokia Local Government, thanked Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR, for supporting development in Yewaland and praised Hon. Akinlade’s efforts in facilitating job placements across various government institutions.

Hon. Lawal Adewale, Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, described Akinlade as a “man of the people,” applauding his empowerment projects – particularly in Maun, Ipokia, where local economic activity has surged as a result.

The highlight of the ceremony was the formal commissioning of the roundabout by His Royal Majesty, Oba Bisiriyu Taiwo, the Olu of Owode-Yewa.

The event drew prominent traditional rulers, political stakeholders, and residents of the community.

Distinguished guests included Oba John Afolabi Babajide, the Oloko-Eye of Oko-Eye; Oba Joseph Olamide Adesiyan, the Onihunbo of Ihunbo; and Oba Adewale Abd-Kabir Adeyinka, the Onidi-Ota of Idi-Ota, among others.

The celebration began with the Nigerian and Ogun State anthems, sung passionately by attendees.

Mr. Omotosho Lukman officially opened the event with a welcome address, commending Hon. Akinlade for his transformative contributions to the constituency.

Observers noted that the commissioning ceremony reflects yet another impactful and people-focused initiative by Hon. Akinlade.

They urged him to remain steadfast in his mission to improve the lives of his constituents through sustainable development.
