ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – The Ogun State Government has taken a major step toward improving education by equipping 238 Senior Secondary Schools with smart classroom facilities.
These include solar power systems, smart televisions, and laptops, among other modern learning tools. This initiative aims to provide students with access to a high-quality educational system that meets global standards.
Speaking at the 10th Annual State Conference and Presentation of Awards of the Mathematical Association of Nigeria (MAN), Ogun State Chapter, held at the Federal College of Education (FCE), Osiele, Abeokuta, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, highlighted the government’s commitment to education.
He assured stakeholders that while these modern facilities were available, measures were being taken to ensure their safety after installation.
According to Mr. Samuel Ogungbesan, Information and Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, the government has also begun remodeling 517 Senior Secondary Schools. As part of this effort, science laboratories are being reconstructed to meet world standards, starting with the 42 Flagship Schools.
Prof. Arigbabu reaffirmed the government’s dedication to supporting MAN and other subject associations, emphasizing the importance of unity among educators.
He encouraged them to work together harmoniously, noting that collaboration fosters greater progress.
“Mathematics is the bedrock of all sciences. I want to assure MAN and other subject associations that the government will continue to support and make you proud”, the Commissioner stated.
The Chairman of MAN, Ogun State Chapter, Dr. Temitope Ajani, expressed gratitude to the Commissioner for his unwavering support.
He explained that the conference was organized not only to discuss issues affecting the teaching and learning of Mathematics but also to address contemporary challenges facing the nation.
Dr. Ajani further stated that the conference aimed to generate innovative ideas that could help reposition the current administration toward more effective governance and service to humanity
