Ogun 2027: Ogun West Deserves Governorship Slot For Equality, Justice; Yayi Best Fit – Greater Manchester Chair, Alhaji Kumoye, Ogun Indigenes In UK

MANCHESTER, UK – The Chairman of the Nigerian Community Greater Manchester (NCGM), Alhaji Abiola Kumoye has voiced his support for an Ogun West candidate to become Governor in the 2027 elections.

Alhaji Kumoye shared his view during an interview with Abu-Satar Hamed in Manchester, United Kingdom.

He lamented the exclusion of Ogun West from occupying the governorship position since the state’s creation, describing it as unjust and inequitable.

“It’s high time Ogun Central and Ogun East joined forces to allow Ogun West a chance at the governorship. Without such support, Ogun West’s efforts will remain futile”, they remarked.

When asked about potential candidates, the NCGM Chair acknowledged Senator Solomon Adeola Yayi as a strong contender, saying: “If the people of Ogun West declare, ‘He is our son, and we delight in him to represent us,’ there should be no objection.

“Ogun West deserves to be considered for the governorship seat, and the chosen candidate should be accepted by the state’s political stakeholders.”

On separate occasions in Wakefield and Castleford, Yorkshire, women from Ogun State who wish to remain anonymous, voiced their dissatisfaction with the longstanding political marginalization of Ogun West.

They however suggested the region may lack the political cohesion seen in Ogun Central and Ogun East.#

One of the women praised Senator Yayi’s influence, saying: “We’ve heard about Senator Yayi’s contributions, including numerous constituency projects and scholarships. If he has genuinely facilitated development and supported the needy, Ogun West should unite behind him for the 2027 governorship election.”

At a popular Nigerian joint, LA’Bukka on Moston Lane in Manchester, several Nigerian guys expressed sympathy for Ogun West’s marginalization.

“It’s ironic that Ogun West, which generated the highest Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) for the state, has never produced a governor. This disparity needs to be addressed,” one respondent said.

They urged traditional rulers from Egba and Ijebu to take a stand and rectify the political imbalance, emphasizing that unity among the state’s senatorial districts is crucial for fairness and progress.

Ihe message from Ogun indigenes in the UK is clear: Ogun West deserves its turn at the helm of leadership in 2027. Senator Solomon Adeola Yayi is seen by many as a capable leader whose record of developmental strides makes him a natural choice to represent the region.

As the 2027 elections approach, the call for unity, equity, and justice continues to resonate among Ogun State indigenes abroad, highlighting the urgency of addressing long-standing disparities in the state’s political landscape.
