LONDON, UK – A resident of London, United Kingdom, Mr. Olalekan Salako, has expressed admiration for Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi due to the ongoing development projects the Senator is facilitating in Ogun West. Representing Ogun West in the National Assembly, Senator Yayi’s initiatives have earned him widespread recognition and support.
In an interview with Abu-Satar Hamed of StarTrend Int’l magazine and online platform in London, Salako shared his thoughts on Ogun West’s political landscape and the Senator’s impact.
When asked about Ogun West’s longstanding struggle to produce a governor, Salako identified internal challenges as the root cause.
“My opinion on Ogun West’s inability to produce a governor can be traced to some of our political leaders’ greediness and the presence of traitors among them. Until we speak in one voice and support a single candidate from Ogun West, our chances of producing the next governor will remain slim,” he stated.
Salako expressed a bold opinion on state division, admitting he would feel relieved if Ogun State were divided before Ogun West gets the opportunity to produce a governor.
During the interview, Salako outlined actionable strategies for fostering sustainable development in Ogun State.
His recommendations include: focus on accessible, high-quality education tailored to modern job markets; promote vocational training and higher education to develop a versatile workforce and prioritize critical infrastructure such as roads, public transport, energy, and internet connectivity to enhance economic activity and attract investment;
Others are reduce dependence on a single industry by fostering diverse sectors, including agriculture, manufacturing, technology, and services; provide incentives for startups and small businesses through financing, regulatory support, and business-friendly policies; develop innovation hubs to nurture new technologies and ideas and ensure transparency, accountability, and strong institutions that uphold justice and human rights.
Also, build a robust healthcare system and ensure equitable access to essential services like social security; Adopt green energy initiatives, reduce carbon emissions, and conserve natural resources for future generations; invest in underserved regions to reduce inequalities and provide equitable access to resources and opportunities; collaboration with the private sector for infrastructure development and service delivery and attract foreign direct investment (FDI) through stable, open-market policies and build international trade relationships.
Salako emphasized the importance of these strategies for achieving sustainable progress in Ogun State.
“By taking these steps, governments can create a robust foundation for long-term development that benefits both citizens and the broader economy,” he remarked.
The vision shared by Salako highlights the critical need for strategic planning and unity in Ogun West to unlock its full potential.
