Yewa Youth Association Holds 2024 4th Quarter Meeting in Ijoun-Yewa, Receives Royal Blessings From Onijoun of Ijoun-Yewa (+photos)

IJOUN-YEWA, YEWA NORTH LG, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – The Yewa Youth Association (YYA) convened its 2024 4th quarter meeting on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the Ijoun-Yewa Town Hall.

The gathering witnessed the participation of 63 youth representatives from central youth bodies across all local government areas in Yewaland.

The highlight of the meeting was an inspiring royal message delivered by His Royal Majesty, Alayeluwa Oba (RN) Gabriel Akanbi Ogunji, Arapotaliyewo 1, the Onijoun of Ijoun-Yewa.

The monarch commended the enthusiasm and dedication of Yewa youths towards the development of Yewaland. The royal delegation, led by Adele Oba and Asiwaju Onigbagbo of Ketuland, High Chief Olaleye Emmanuel Alani, included Chief Olugbeja Isaac, Afin of Ijoun Land, and Elder Peter Olawale Falaju, Chairman of Ketu CDC.

During the meeting, reports of activities from various towns’ central youth bodies were presented. These highlighted initiatives in education, environmental services, entertainment, sports, youth summits, and community security.

The YYA executive encouraged all youth representatives to intensify efforts in town development, maintain regular youth meetings, and initiate new projects. Towns without central youth bodies were urged to establish them, with YYA leadership offering support to achieve this goal.

The meeting also featured updates on the activities of the Yewa People Development Council (YPDC). Reports included security efforts across Yewaland, progress in the Yewa Newsroom and Yewa TV projects, assistance for teenagers and young people entering tertiary institutions, and proposals for Yewa Education and Political Summits.

Also, updates covered summer coaching classes for secondary school science students. Youth representatives in YPDC Locochaps were tasked with ensuring these bodies meet their expectations.

Reports of YYA activities since the 3rd quarter meeting at Ihunbo-Yewa were also shared. These included courtesy visits, lecture series for correctional center inmates, tertiary education admission assistance, and intervention meetings with stakeholders on community road reconstruction in Olokuta.

Other activities included attendance at Yewa towns’ central youth body meetings, participation in YPDC Governing Council meetings, executive expansion, and proposed initiatives like the Yewa Youth Unity Football program and sensitization campaigns.

Committees representing YYA on special structures such as the YPDC Education Summit and Governing Council presented their reports. Suggestions were offered to enhance the discharge of their assignments, ensuring alignment with YYA’s goals.

The National Association of Yewa Students (NAYES) national leadership provided an account of its outgoing administration and updated the meeting on the recently held election of new executives at Ilara-Yewa. They sought continued guidance from YYA leadership to ensure sustained progress.

The State Deputy Chairman and Vice Chairman (West) of the Youth Council presented progress on electricity supply restoration in affected Yewa North communities. They also shared strategies to align federal and state government projects with local artisans, ensuring Yewa youths benefit from facilitated projects.

The YYA executive was directed to prioritize towns that consistently participate in meetings for future opportunities. Youth leaders were urged to inspire diligence, patriotism, and passion for Yewaland’s development among their peers.

The meeting congratulated newly elected local government chairmen, vice chairmen and councilors in Yewaland. They were encouraged to focus on human capital development to foster growth across Yewaland.The YYA remains committed to its mandate of uniting Yewa town central youth bodies and fostering sustainable development across the region.

With the royal blessing and active participation of its members, the association aims to achieve even greater milestones in the coming year.
