LAGOS, NIGERIA – The Boeing Company, a leading global aerospace corporation, has reiterated its unwavering support for Air Peace, Nigeria’s premier airline and the largest carrier in West Africa.
This endorsement highlights Air Peace’s pivotal role in advancing the aviation industry in Nigeria.
Harry Magui, Senior Organizational Consultant and Programme Manager at Boeing Global Learning Institute emphasized this commitment during a visit to Air Peace.
The visit, conducted alongside Cranfield University – a renowned UK postgraduate institution specializing in technology and management – focused on fortifying Air Peace’s safety culture and operational efficiency.
The delegation carried out five-day in-person classroom training designed to enhance safety practices and operational excellence at Air Peace Limited.
“Air Peace has been phenomenal in advancing the Aviation Industry in Nigeria, so we are here to support them to harness more opportunities in the future with the Advanced Leadership in Safety Excellence Training for all its top leadership within the organization. We recognise your achievement and are proud of Air Peace”, Magui said.
He explained that “all airlines know, even more so Air Peace, that safety is the number one metric within this industry. Without safety, there can be no business in Aviation and also, it is a very important metric not just for the airline but also for regulators, but also for the passengers.”
Magui assured that the leading global aerospace company will continue to collaborate with Air Peace in critical areas such as psychological safety, change management processes, safety leadership, crisis management and just culture.
Speaking in the same vein, Harrison Debrah, Global Safety & Regulatory Affairs, The Boeing Company acknowledged the giant stride Air Peace has made in a very short time.
He revealed that Air Peace will continue to be at the centre of Boeing Group’s vision for Nigeria and commended the Chairman/CEO of Air Peace, Dr. Allen Onyema for his resilience, tenacity and passion.
Dr. Fabian Steinmann, Lecturer, Organisational Resilience and Change at Cranfield School of Management said: “We’re now here in Lagos, Nigeria together with Boeing delivering a course for Air Peace.
“Air Peace just celebrated their 10th Anniversary, so we are excited to engage wisdom and learn more about their operation because at Cranfield, we really care about the safety of the system, making it robust but also making it flexible to adapt to the ever-changing environment.”
Steinmann explained that just like Air Peace, safety is at the heart of everything they do at Cranfield adding that they are privileged to travel around the world, pick up the good practices, learn more about the culture and the operation in various countries.
“So we’re here to facilitate that exchange with Nigeria and Air Peace to see how we share some of the good practices and lessons learned from all around the world and translate them into the operation”, Steinmann posited.
Responding, Dr. Onyema thanked them for their kind words and noted that the management of Air Peace was looking forward to the Advanced Leadership in Safety Excellence training by The Boeing Company.
“In Air Peace, safety is at the core of everything we do. We have a system of checks and balances in the system”, Onyema noted.
Onyema revealed that he has never used any other airline apart from Air Peace because of his trust in the safety and maintenance culture at Air Peace.
The Air Peace Chairman explained that the airline encourages the non-punitive report, an indication that the Air Peace has adopted the Just Culture in the organisation.
This collaboration underscores Boeing’s dedication to fostering global best practices within the aviation sector, benefiting both the airline and the broader aviation industry in Nigeria.
