MINNA, NIGER STATE, NIGERIA – Details have emerged regarding the recent meeting between former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, alongside General Aliyu Gusau, at the residence of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) in Minna.
The private discussion, which lasted about an hour, followed Obasanjo’s arrival at Minna International Airport at approximately 4:30 pm on Sunday, September 15, 2024.
A statement released by Obasanjo’s Media Aide, Kehinde Akinyemi, clarified that the primary reason for the visit was to celebrate IBB’s birthday.
Obasanjo was unable to attend IBB’s birthday due to international commitments.
The statement also highlighted that earlier the same day, Obasanjo visited Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin, in Edo State to honour his 90th birthday.
Following the Benin celebration, Obasanjo traveled to Minna to felicitate IBB on his 83rd birthday, which occurred on August 17, 2024.
Obasanjo However used the occasion to praise IBB’s contributions and wished him continued good health.
