ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – Members of the tailoring profession have been urged to embrace a new concept aimed at uniting them as one indivisible entity.
Otunba Wasiu Jayeola Taiwo, the National President of the Tailoring Association of Nigeria (TAN), made this call during the installation ceremony of Chief Sebil Amoo Hamed as the Chairman of the Ogun State chapter, alongside other executives, on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.
Known affectionately as Wessy Creation, Otunba Taiwo emphasized that the era of unionism is over and that as professionals, it is best to operate as an association, hence the rebranding to Tailoring Association of Nigeria (TAN).
He encouraged all members nationwide to support this new approach to foster progress and mutual respect within the profession.
Otunba Taiwo highlighted the efforts of the association’s elders in working tirelessly to gain international recognition for TAN.
He congratulated Chief Sebil Hamed, praising his experience and dedication, having served the association at various levels from unit to state.
Otunba Taiwo also called on the newly sworn-in executives and members in Ogun State to support their new Chairman in achieving the association’s goals.
Hon. Ademola Olasunkanmi Balogun, Ogun State Commissioner of Community Development & Cooperatives, acted as the Chief Host at the event.
The installation which took place at the Owu Baptist Church Field beside Gateway Secondary School in Abeokuta, was well attended by TAN members and dignitaries from across Ogun State.
