ABUJA, FCT, NIGERIA – The PROGRESSIVE FORUM, representing members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the South-West zone of Nigeria, has issued a stern warning against the recognition of Alhaji Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa as the president of the national union.
This caution comes amidst a pending legal case currently in the appeal court.
In a statement jointly signed by Alhaji Raufu Kolawole and Comrade Femi Ajanaku, the Chairman and Secretary of the Forum respectively, it was emphasized that Mr. Baruwa’s presidency status is subject to the outcome of the ongoing legal proceedings.
“The National Industrial Court’s judgment on April 30, 2024 remains in limbo as the case awaits further deliberation at the appellate level.
“With the transfer of the case to the higher court, Mr. Baruwa’s authority as president is deemed inactive since the Industrial Court’s intervention.
“Consequently, any actions taken by Mr. Baruwa in his purported capacity as president are deemed invalid until a final verdict is reached by the appellate court”, the statement reads.
