IBADAN, OYO STATE, NIGERIA – Governor Makinde has vowed to prosecute Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) personnel allegedly involved in the brutalization of two officials from the Oyo State Road Transport Management Agency (OYRTMA) in Ibadan.
Expressing condemnation for the incident, the governor assured the victims of necessary action against the culprits. He denounced the inhumane treatment inflicted on the OYRTMA officials for apprehending an NIS officer for traffic rule violation.
During his visit to the assaulted officials and the NIS Oyo State Command, Governor Makinde emphasized the state’s commitment to upholding the rule of law. He stressed the importance of everyone, regardless of status, obeying traffic regulations.
Asserting that federal agency affiliation doesn’t confer superiority, Governor Makinde instructed the Attorney-General to pursue legal action against the perpetrators.
He declared the incident unacceptable and affirmed Oyo State’s determination to ensure justice.
At the NIS office in Agodi Gate, Ibadan, Governor Makinde advocated improved cooperation among security agencies.
He emphasized the need to prevent such incidents from recurring, urging inter-agency collaboration to uphold the rule of law and enforce traffic regulations effectively.
The governor received assurances from the NIS Oyo State Command and the zonal authorities of their cooperation in resolving the matter.
He reaffirmed Oyo State’s commitment to law enforcement and underscored zero tolerance for traffic rule violations.
