WARRI, DELTA STATE, NIGERIA – The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has formally apologized to the esteemed Delta State first-class monarch, Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, following a mistaken invitation concerning alleged cases of attempted murder and assault.
The invitation, which arose from a petition purportedly against the monarch, sparked controversy and raised concerns within the community.
Kenneth Uyebi, the palace Secretary speaking on behalf of the revered traditional ruler, denounced the invitation as the work of troublemakers and disgruntled individuals within the Itsekiri nation.
He disclosed that the Warri Area Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Abubakar, promptly offered an unequivocal apology to the Olu of Warri upon recognizing the error.
Uyebi affirmed the Olu of Warri’s dedication to upholding the law and preserving peace within his realm, stressing that the monarch would have honored the invitation had it been legitimate.
However, with the swift retraction of the mistaken letter and no replacement issued, the matter is considered resolved from the monarch’s standpoint.
