ABUJA – The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Barr. Festus Keyamo, has revealed that the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) reportedly spent N.5 billion over four years on flight tickets for key directors and operational staff shuttling between Lagos and Abuja for official duties.
Keyamo defended FAAN’s recent relocation back to Lagos, stating it was aimed at enhancing operational efficiency.
He clarified that 130 key staff were residing in Lagos due to a lack of accommodation in Abuja.
The Minister also discussed proposed funding for navigational equipment and infrastructure upgrades at airports, efforts to address flight cancellations, the absence of a national masterplan for airports, the investigation into the suspended Nigeria Air project, and issues related to repatriation of funds to foreign airlines.
