SAGAMU, OGUN STATE – The 6973 Club of Remo Divisional High School (RDHS) Old Students’ Association commemorated its 50th Anniversary on Thursday, December 7, 2023, in a jubilant and elaborate affair.
The festivities commenced at the school hall with a session of prayers and thanksgiving, followed by impactful speeches delivered by the Club President, OSA President General, and the Senior School Principal.
The celebration continued with generous gifts presented to the school, accompanied by a tour of the premises led by the school principals. The club members were later treated to a vibrant display of student choreography.
Further commemorations took place at the OSA Secretariat and the Anniversary Launch held at the Mosu Event Centre in Sabo, Sagamu.
The occasion also marked the election of a new executive committee for RDHS Club 6973, entrusted with guiding the association for the next four years.
The elected executives include Elder Adetola Adefeso (President), Mr. Rotimi Ayankoya (Vice President), Alhaji Femi Oyero (General Secretary), Bar. Mrs. Pero Abiodun (Asst. Gen. Secretary), Mr. Tunji Mojid (Treasurer), Mr. Sola Oduneye (Financial Secretary), Mrs. Odunola Ribadu (Social/Publicity Secretary), Otunba Wale Okutade (Welfare Officer), Mrs. Saki Awosanya (Ex-Officio 1), Engr. Segun Owolabi (Ex-Officio 2), and Mr. Odunayo Adeyemi (Coordinator).
Reflecting on its journey, the RDHS Club 6973, established in 1988, has evolved significantly from its inaugural meeting at the CMS Grammar School, Bariga.
Starting with nine members, it has flourished to include a membership of at least seventy individuals attending monthly rotational meetings hosted by various members.
The club has actively engaged in national old students’ programmes and produced notable leaders, including three National Presidents – late Mr. Babatunde Oladayo, Late Pastor Olaseni Ogunsanya, and Chief (Mrs.) Biola Fakoya-Odutayo.
The club members have also held key positions in various national committees, contributing significantly to the school’s development.
Also, the RDHS Club 6973 has been instrumental in school activities, instituting awards for outstanding students, donations for school infrastructure, and maintaining a consistent contribution towards the school’s progress.
The club also paid tribute to its departed members, acknowledging their invaluable contributions to the club’s formation and sustenance during their lifetimes.
The notable figures honored include Late Mr. Abiodun Surakat Aina, Late Mr. Babatunde Oladayo, Late Captain Tunde Alaba, Late Pastor Olaseni Ogunsanya, Late Ogbeni Bisi Yusuf, Late Mr. David Solanke, Late Mrs. Oyepero Odunfa (Nee Sode), Late Mrs. Toun Taiwo (Nee Soleye), Late Mrs. Funmilayo Adebule (Nee Benedict), Late Mrs. Titi Adenuga (Nee Okunoren), Late Mrs. Yetunde Ebocha (Nee Osinloye), Late Mrs. Sadiat Mamowora, Late Mr. Binjo Sogbetun, and Late Mrs. Taiwo Idowu (Nee Adelaja).
