At the regal Oba Bi Olorun Kosi Haven, the majestic abode of His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Kehinde Gbadewole Adeboye Olugbenle MFR, the esteemed Olu of Ilaro & Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, a flurry of activity ensued on Friday, December 29, 2023, as the distinguished monarch hosted his subjects for an end-of-the-year celebration.

The affair commenced with a prestigious awards presentation honoring select students from across Ogun West, courtesy of the Yewa Descendant Union, Abuja FCT Chapter. It marked the annual gathering of Chiefs, Baales, and other key stakeholders from Ilaro-Yewa and its surroundings.

After the student awards, Oba Olugbenle shared a comprehensive report of his endeavours in the year 2023. He highlighted his ongoing efforts to uphold peace in Ilaro and the expansive Yewa region, commending the collaborative efforts of security agencies in maintaining a secure environment.

During this occasion, Oba Olugbenle lauded the vigilance of security apparatuses in Yewaland, urging them to remain steadfast in curbing criminal activities within the area.

He called upon Chiefs and Baales to actively monitor youth activities in their domains and discourage any inclination towards criminal pursuits as an alternative path to success.

Expressing his belief that traditional chiefs possess intimate community ties and firsthand knowledge, he emphasized their role in identifying individuals involved in criminal activities.

The monarch cautioned Baales against engaging in the unauthorized sale of government-acquired lands or those belonging to their subjects, underscoring the penalties imposed by the state government for such infractions.

Commending various committees and committees for their stewardship reports, Oba Olugbenle urged them to strive for continued improvement in the upcoming year.

He revealed the visits by government officials to assess and initiate repairs on damaged bridges in Ilaro township roads, with reconstruction scheduled for early 2024.

Oba Olugbenle also informed his subjects about the forthcoming reconstruction of the Sagamu Interchange-Papalanto-Ilaro-Obele express road by the Dangote Construction Company, hoping Dangote will address the deplorable state of the Ibese-Ilaro road upon the project’s reach in Ilaro.

Expressing gratitude to the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for facilitating numerous developmental projects, particularly the ongoing Ilaro-Owode Yewa road construction, Oba Olugbenle urged the government to expedite its completion for improved transportation and trade in the region.

Reiterating the vital role of Chiefs and Baales in fostering peace and development, Oba Olugbenle announced forthcoming identity card issuance to Chiefs and Baales within his domain for security verification and confirmation of their status.

Expressing concerns regarding the inability of registered families, clubs and associations to partake in the 2023 Oronna Ilaro Festival’s grand finale, the monarch reassured them of convenient arrangements for participation in the next edition, lauding the planning committee’s success and hoping for an improved event next year.

The event concluded with prayers for peace across Ilaro, Yewa, Ogun State, and Nigeria as a whole. A moment of silence honored departed members of the Olu Ilaro-in-Council and Baales.

Thereafter, Chiefs, Baales, Omoobas, and guests, were treated to lavish feast and select refreshments, courteously provided by Oba Olugbenle as a gesture of gratitude.
