ILARO-YEWA, OGUN STATE – Revd. Canon Adeolu Oyeniyi has urged those in positions of power to consider their responsibilities and positively impact on the society.

Addressing the congregation on Friday, December 15, 2023, during the burial service held at the Christ Bethel Anglican Church in Ilaro-Yewa, Ogun State for Chief Julius Olubisi Akinola, the late Baale of Ijado in Yewa South Local Government of Ogun State, Revd. Oyeniyi emphasized the transient nature of life and the need for accountability.

Revd. Oyeniyi admonished individuals to live purposefully, be mindful of their actions, and prioritize their relationship with God.

Reflecting on Chief Bisi Akinola’s life, he highlighted the importance of positive influences and encouraged attendees to emulate the late Baale’s virtuous life.

Revd. Oyeniyi emphasized that those in power often misuse their positions, oppressing the vulnerable and forgetting that their authority will one day fade away.

He stressed the importance of being accountable for one’s actions before the Creator and urged everyone to seek God’s guidance in their relationships with others, promoting kindness and compassion.

The cleric condemned the act of unlawfully taking from others, emphasizing that such actions would have consequences from earthly life to the hereafter, impacting future generations.

Revd. Adeolu Oyeniyi hailed the late Baale Bisi Akinola as a devout Christian who lived a life dedicated to God and humanity. He encouraged the congregation to reflect on Akinola’s positive influence on others and strive to follow his example.

Highlighting that death is inevitable and a culmination of life’s journey, he encouraged individuals to live purposefully and be remembered for their good deeds.

Revd. Oyeniyi advised the deceased’s children to emulate their father’s virtuous path and actively engage in church activities to fill the void left by their parent’s passing.

He offered prayers for the peaceful repose of Chief Bisi Akinola’s soul and extended heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and relatives of the departed.

Also, Evangelist Afolabi Popoola of the same church, during the Songs of Service on Thursday, December 14, 2023, urged attendees to ponder life’s inevitable end, emphasizing the value of time and purposeful living.

Popoola stressed the significance of accountability before God and the path to salvation through Jesus Christ.

In their tributes, both clergymen described Chief Bisi Akinola as a devout Christian known for his kindness and commitment to God. They lauded his legacy of goodwill and urged mourners to emulate his virtues.

At the service, Pastor Femi Akinola expressed gratitude on behalf of the family, praising Chief Akinola’s selflessness and dedication to peace. He lamented the loss not only to the Akinola family, but to humanity.

Also, Mr. Kayode Salako, President of Recreation Club, Ilaro-Yewa, fondly remembered Chief Bisi Akinola’s jovial nature and announced the deceased’s son as a new club member, honoring Chief Akinola’s legacy.

The burial service witnessed an outpouring of love from mourners, underscoring Chief Akinola’s significant impact as a community leader and dedicated Surveyor.

The late Baale’s remains were interred at Ijado Kingdom, his cherished reign as Baale celebrated by the Ijado Community through dancing and singing.

Guests were later gathered at the Main Hall and Sport Ground of the Recreation Club, Ilaro, commemorating the life of their loved one with entertainment and heartfelt celebrations.

Chief Juliu Olubisi Akinola’s sudden death at the age of 68 on November 17, 2023, left behind cherished memories among his wife, children, grandchildren, and relatives.

The event celebrated Chief Akinola’s life and enduring contributions, resonating deeply with those who attended, expressing the admiration and love felt for him during his lifetime.
