IBADAN – In his quest to mitigate the impact of petrol subsidy removal, the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has approved wage awards of N25,000 for civil servants and N15,000 for pensioners in the State.
Governor Makinde disclosed this while addressing congress of the two main organized labour unions in the State, the NLC and the TUC.
According to the governor, the arrears of the wage award for the month of October will be paid before the end of the week, while the Government will look into its purse, if the month September would be considered.
The Governor added that the wage awards will be paid for 6 months and will cost the state government additional 2.2 billion naira monthly.
The State NLC Chairman, Comrade Kayode Martins and State TUC Chairman, Comrade Bosun Olabiyi thanked the Governor for his magnanimity.
