As I was born on October 27, 1950, I clocked 40 years on October 27, 1990, and the Inter-Reformers band led by Evangelist (Professor) Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi, MFR, was booked by me to entertain my guests, on the landmark celebration in Ibadan, my beloved hometown.
To booth, the late Bashorun Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, GCFR, was the chairman of the party. May MKO’s kind soul continue to rest in perfect peace. Amen.
20 years after, on October 27, 2010, the Chief Commander of Juju music, Evangelist (Professor) Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi MFR, and his iconic band, again, entertained my guests in Ibadan.
The late successful industrialist Sir (Chief) Bode Akindele, Parakoyi of Ibadanland, chaired the party. May his noble soul continue to rest in perfect peace. Amen.
Came October 27, 2020, I became a Septuagenarian and had lined up Baba Obey and his band to play at my 70th birthday party at the new International Conference Centre of the University of Ibadan, but the fearsome COVID-19, then cutting off lives, all over the world, put an end to that plan.
Although October 27, 2023 is just some days away, my 73rd birthday will be celebrated without a din. Why?
The country is going through a perilous period, politically and economically, as such, ko s’ina dida mbe.
These times demand soberness and reflections. We pray that God will see us through the present travails. Amen.
By the grace of God, Evangelist (Professor) Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi MFR, and his band will be on stage, with other super bands, in 2025, to entertain my guests, when I shall clock 75, Deo Volente.
