After losing an election in 2021, a prominent politician in Uganda, Honourable Evelyn Anite, has explained why she retrieved an ambulance donated to her district.
It would be recalled that during election campaigns, politicians give out both cash and material gifts in anticipation of massive votes during the election, and this was not different for Evelyn.
In a post via X, the African Facts Zone, on October 3, 2023, reported how Hon. Anite took back the ambulance she donated to her constituents after she lost an election.
The post reads, “Ugandan Politician Evelyn Anite took back an ambulance she donated to her district after losing an election in 2021.”
Responding to the post, Anite, now the Ugandan State Minister of Finance for Investment and Privatization, confirmed she retrieved the ambulance and is unapologetic.
The minister said she refused to walk away empty-handed after the same people she donated the ambulance to didn’t vote for her.
She further quoted the scripture to justify her action, adding there was nothing to be ashamed of because she had sold the ambulance.
She wrote, “Firstly, it’s true I took back my ambulance & I have no apologies. Why did I do it? It’s because they didn’t vote for me. So, did you expect me to walk away with nothing?
“Galatians 6:7: A man reaps what he sows. I’m so shameless to the extent that I have sold it.”
