LAGOS – Facts have emerged over the death of a frontline Nollywood Yoruba actor – Mr. Murphy Afolabi.
It was scooped that the thespian was involved in a domestic accident in the early hours of Sunday, May 14, 2023 when he fell down in his bathroom and hit his head on the floor at his residence in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
It would be recalled that the Nigerian movie industry has barely 24 hours after the death of a popular Nollywood actor – Saint Obi, lost another Yoruba movie star actor – Murphy Afolabi
Afolabi who was born on May 5, 1974, at Oroki Asala in Osogbo, Osun State, had just celebrated his 49 birthday.
A graduate from the Department of Theatre Arts and Film Production, Osun State Polytechnic, Iree,
joined the movie industry in 2001, and had appeared in over 60 movies before his death.
He shot to limelight after his role in the celebrated movie, ‘Omo Rapala’. He also had film credits in ‘Ifa Olokun’, ‘Omowunmi’, ‘Jimi Bendel’, ‘Wasila Coded’, ‘Olokiki Oru’, and ‘Idera’ among others.
Afolabi was a talented actor and producer of multiple movies which endeared him to his colleagues in the industry and many fans/movie-lovers.
He had passion for acting from a young age, and he began his journey in professional acting under the tutelage of veteran actor, Fasasi Olabankewin (Dagunro) in 1998.
Murphy Afolabi was survived by a wive and three children – two boys and a girl – Olamilekan, Fathia Moyosore and Okikiola.
