ILARO-YEWA – The Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba (Dr) Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle MFR has charged Nigerian youths not to allow social media to determine their thoughts or actions in the society.

The first class traditional ruler made this statement on Friday, April 21, 2023 when the Ilaro Muslim community, led by Imam Tajudeen Mustapha-Adewunmi, Chief Imam of Ilaro Central Mosque, paid him a visit on the occasion of the 2023 Eid-il-Fitri celebration at the Agunloye Pavilion, Empire Field, Ilaro-Yewa.

Oba Olugbenle noted that the recent indoctrination of “obidient” in some quarters didn’t portray the true meaning of the word.

He was of the opinion that some youths just absorbed the political terminology of obidient hook, line and sinker without bothering to know what the word and it’s promoters really stand for.

He advised that Yoruba youths should protect the sanctity of their culture and tradition firmly, and shouldn’t be carried away with the propaganda associated with the word or what the people behind it stand to achieve.

Oba Olugbenle urged the youth to always listen and adhere to the advice of elders who had passed through the ups and downs of life.

He also charged those in positions of authority to always remember their kinsmen who are in need, saying, “life is not sweet if the other man doesn’t have.”

Kabiesi also urged the blessed in the society to always share their blessings with the have – nots, adding that those who don’t have today might have tomorrow.

While congratulating the Muslim faithful on the occasion of the Eid-il-Fitri festival, Oba Olugbenle commended the Imams and Alfas in Yewaland for their continued prayers for the peace and siocio-economic development of Yewaland.

In his speech on behalf of other Imams and Alfas in attendance, the Imam of Ansar-Ud-Deen Mosque, Ilaro-Yewa, Imam Badmus Adegbite described Oba Olugbenle as a God-given traditional ruler to Yewaland, urging the Chiefs and people of Ilaro and Yewaland as a whole to continue to give their unflinching support to kabiesi.

Imam of Nawair-Ud-Deen Central Mosque, Ilaro-Yewa and Seriki Hausawa of Ilaro-Yewa, Alhaji Musa Lawal also offered special prayer for Oba Olugbenle, people of Ilaro-Yewa, Ogun State and Nigeria in general.

Alhaji OlaAfin-Imo anchored the programme while Ustaz Solliu Ogunremi read a chapter from the Holy Qur’an.

The event was attended by Muslim faithful from accross Ilaro-Yewa and environs, including members of the Olu-in-Council among others.
