Police Condemns Assault On Man By Three Policemen In Port Harcourt, Arrested For Assault

ABUJA – The Nigerian Police authority has condemned in it’s totality the disturbing act of assault, allegedly committed by some members of the Nigerian Police, on a Nigerian in Port Harcourt.

According to CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force PPRO, “I wonder how a man, a reasonable man, would be flogging or slapping a grown-up man in that manner. So barbaric and unpolice.”

It would be recalled that in a video that went viral on Monday, April 10, 2023, three policemen were seem involved in slapping and beating an unidentified man in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

While giving an update on the issue, Monday evening, the PPRO, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi said: “These men have been arrested, and their Commander will personally bring them to the Force Headquarters tomorrow Tuesday (April 11, 2023) for further actions.

“They are 3 in number, attached to RRS, Rivers State. Their action does not portray the police in a good light at all.

“It is still to buttress my point that whatever a policeman does is personal, not systemic.

“I wonder how a man, a reasonable man, would be flogging or slapping a grown-up man in that manner. So barbaric and unpolice.”

It was scooped that the incident happened at Elibrade Junction, Emohua Local Government Area of Port Harcourt on Monday, April 10, 2023.

The video of the “unpolice and unethical” action, as described by the Force Police Public Relations Officer CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has gone viral.

The erring Police officers in the video that went viral on the internet got attention of the Nigeria Police authority and they have been arrested by the State Command of the Nigerian Police.
