15-Year Old Student Needs N1.5m For Surgery, Cries Out For Help

ABEOKUTA –  A 15-year old former student of Premier College, Aiyetoro-Yewa Road, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Master Yusuf Taiwo has called on the kind-hearted Nigerians to quickly come to his aide, so that he could continue his education and would not die at a tender age.

According to a letter issued by the Doctor in-charge of Taiwo’s treatment at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta, and made available to StarTrend Int’l magazine, the patient who was diagnosed with progressive swelling, involving the right lower jaw of 6 mouths duntion ailment would need One million & Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N1.5m) for an urgent surgery.

Accirding to the boy’s father, Mr. Taiwo Taofeek, the poor boy presently living in pains was stopped from further attending the school as a result of the state of his health and the financial constraints to do the surgery.

Below is the appeal letter written by the Management of Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.

Re: TAIWO YUSUF, MALE, 15 YEARS, HOSP: 10014064

The above named patient first presented in Oral and Maxillofacial Clinic of the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta on Tuesday 12th October, 2021 with progressive swelling involving the right lower jaw of 6 mouths duntion.

Initial examination revealed a bony hard lesion involving the right ramus extending forward to the right body of the mandible, measuring 20cm x 10cm, causing occlusal derangement with buccolingual expansion of the mandible.

There was associated pain and trismus.

Initial clinic diagnosis of juvenile ossifying fibroma was arrived at which was to be confirmed by an incisional biopsy.

However, this could not be done due to financial constraint.

Cost of incisional biopsy – N40,000.00

Right Angled reconstruction plate with condylar prosthesis – N699,000.00. Including three (3) locking screws (KLS martins)

Theatre Fee – N180,000.00

Admission Fee – N42,000.00

Investigations and Blood Screening – N22,000.00

Antibiotic & Analgesic – N35,000.00

Other Consumables – N25,000.00
