How Overzealous Customs Officers Welcome Buhari To Ogun By Killing A Year-Old Baby Over Plantain Flour

ILARO-YEWA – In their characteristic manner of shooting indiscriminately in a bid to arrest smugglers, officers of the Nigeria Customs Service, mounting roadblock opposite the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro in Ogun state, and led by a man allegedly identified as Jude, on Thursday, January 13, 2022, opened fire on a family of three, killing their one-year-old daughter on the spot.

It would be recalled that this dastardly act of the overzealous Customs officers coincided with President Muhammadu Buhari’s third time of visiting Ogun State without paying visit or commissioning any project in Ogun West – the third leg that made up of Ogun State.

The incident which occurred in front of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro in Ogun State, according to eye witnesses, the blood-thirsty officers had thought the family was carrying rice in a small white sack at the back of their motorcycle.

Besides, after the heinous murder of the child, it was later discovered that the couple who were coming from their farm were just carrying Banana flour inside a small sack tied at the back of their motorcycle.

It was scooped that the mother of the baby, named, Nimota Adeleye, was said to have also sustained gunshot injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital in the area by sympathizers for treatment.

Observers of the scene who commented on the incident said, “Our operatives are at it again. When will this impunity end? Until they are being held personally liable and discharged from duty to face the law, things will continue to fall apart.

“Custom still mount checkpoints inside the town axis, imagine more than three checkpoints opposite a Federal Polytechnic, it’s time we let the government know it is very wrong for a Customs checkpoints to be in the town.

“@DapoAbiodunMON I heard they wrote to you from Polytechnic Ilaro about these customs issues please see to it. Remove those customs from the street and they should go to the outskirts of Ilaro. How will good pass their checking point and they are coming to town to kill the innocents

“Let the family of the dead innocent girl go back and hurt them back @NIGCUSTOMS don’t show no mercy to any of the Officers you me on duty, Nigeria is a lawless country, hurt back those that hurt you and your family.”
