IJEBU ODE – Ogun State government has been charged to rise up to the ocassion by ending spate of violence and cultism in secondary schools in the state.
The chairman, Old Students Association, Ahmadiyya Grammar School, Eleyele Ibadan, Alhaji Muritala Lawal gave the charge during his address at the Annual General Meeting/End of the year party of the association held in Ijebu Ode, Ogun state.
Alhaji Lawal said that relevant authorities and stakeholders should put in place adequate security network to curb the menace of violence and cultism in schools across the country.
He urged relevant stakeholders not to handle the on-going epidemic ravaging secondary schools with lip service, saying that once the foundation is faulty, there will also be a decay in the sector.
The chairman of the old student association called on the parents and guardians of students in schools to ensure their proper upbringing from homes with a view at complementing efforts of the government in curtailing the menace.
Alhaji Lawal challenged government at all levels to appropriate substantial amount of money to education in their annual budget so as to raise the standard of qualitative education in the country.
The chairman of Ijebu Ode local government, Hon. Babatunde Emiola Gazal in his remarks explained that the present administration under the leadership of Prince Dapo Abiodun has been working tirelessly in the educational sector for the improvement in the standard of qualitative education in the state.
Gazal assured that necessary adequate security network is being put in place to forestall such menace in the state.
Earlier, the Guest Lecturer, Prof. Fatiu Arogundade, Registrar, West Africa Post Graduate College of Medicine, Badagry, in his health tips, titled ” Caring for our Old Age” implored members of the association to always invest in their health to guarantee sound health and long life.
Prof. Arogundade charged them to maintain family tie and ensure a better hygienic environment condition for better standard of living.
The event was rounded off with presentation of awards to deserving personalities who have contributed to the growth and development of the school.
