ILARO-YEWA – To whom much is given, much is expected; hence the lawmaker representing Yewa South State Constituency at the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Lateefat Bolanle Ajayi on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 empowered, with cash over 400 people in her constituency, StarTrebd Int’l reports.
Hon. Bolanle Ajayi who maintained that the gesture was an effort to give back to the people that elected her during the electioneering period in the state, stated that the cash given to individual at the programme was meant to support their businesses, with a view to cushion effects of the economic hardship in the country.
Her words, “It was during my campaign exercise that I promised my people that if God give me that opportunity to win the election, I will not forget them. As we all aware that, promise is a debt, whenever I woke up everyday, something keeps telling me I haven’t fulfilled my promises to my people .
“There’s this “Money Market” programme which was initiated by the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, which we fashioned our own. Even the amount is a token, but we see some people making use of the money well. So if I can give them like N20,000, N10,000, I believe they should start something better with that.”
Hon. Bolanle Ajayi who noted that beneficiaries of the programme cut across all political parties in Yewa South local government, called on other philanthropists to assist the masses with whatever they have, “so that the level of poverty would be reduced in our society.”
In his own speech at the event, the Deputy Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Akeem Balogun appealed to the people of the area to pray and be patient with the present government, saying that in no distance time many dividends of democracy will come to them.
“We are all witnesses to the global covid-19 pandemic that we are all facing and that has greatly affected the economy all over the world. We are also aware of the fact that our people are apprehensive; they want the dividend of democracy from the government, we however appeal to our people that they should pray and be patient with this government, and we hope in no distance time many dividends of democracy will come them”, Hon. Balogun assured.
Ogun Deputy Speaker disclosed that Hon. Bolanle Ajayi is very vibrant when it comes debating any issue in the House, “and she always talked about the deplorable conditions of roads, schools, hospitals, etc in her constituency.”
He commended Hon. Bolanle Ajayi for fulfilling in bit, the electoral promises she made to her constituents, advising that she should continued to feed her people with every programme from the House of Assembly, so that the people would understand the true position of things in the state and Nigeria as a whole.
The Chief Whip of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Atinuke Bello, while addressing the gathering, thanked God for the opportunity given her to witnessed the epoch-making event, saying there’s nothing good than giving back to the society that helps someone in the course of his or her journey in life.
Hon. Bello was of the opinion that there’s gain in given back to the society, the reason she’s full of joy and happiness to support whoever is helping the less-priviledge in the society.
She described Hon. Bolanle Ajayi as an experienced politician who have paid her dues in the country’s polity, saying the people of the area should continued to support her (Hon.Ajayi) in her quest to give them the lease of life.
The Ogun Chief Whip also described Hon. Bolanle Ajayi as a loving and caring member of the House, and very vibrant woman, when it comes to debating issues that involved the poor-massess.
Also, in her speech at the event, the former Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Chief (Mrs.) Iyabode Apampa, on behalf of Hon. Ajayi thanked the people of Yewa South Local government for their unflinching support giving Governor Dapo Abiodun and his team.
Chief (Mrs.) Apampa noted that the Ogun State governor is appreciative of their support and that he has assured that he would continue to distribute evenly, the dividend of democracy in the state.
One of the leaders of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ogun state also described Hon. Bolanle Ajayi as an experienced politician who had for long being involved in the political activities in Yewa and Ogun State as a whole.
She noted that Hon. Bolanle Ajayi had once contested for the position of Assembly member over 20years ago which didn’t come through, but with her perseverance, by waiting for God’s time, she eventually became member of the Ogun State House of Assembly.
Chief Apampa while calling on the people of Yewa South local government to continued in their support to Hon. Bolanle Ajayi towards her better representation in the State House of Assembly thanked the Ogun State Deputy Speaker and the Chief Whip for coming all the way from Abeokuta to give their supports to their colleague (Hon. Ajayi) in the Ogun State House of Assembly.
She noted that the gesture was highly appreciated and commendable, praying that God gives them and others that came for the event journey mercies back to their respective places of abode.
Contributing, the member representing Yewa North State Constituency 2 at the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Wahab Egungbohun commended Hon. Bolanle Ajayi for making good her electoral promises to the people.
Egungbohun thanked the people of Yewa South constituency for the unflinching support giving Hon. Bolanle Ajayi to be elected as member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, adding they should continued to offer their support to the lawmaker in her quest towards the socio-economic development of the area and youth empowerment.
Also speaking on the occasion, the Chairman, Yewa South Local Government, Hon. Lateef Adebayo Salami congratulated Hon. Bolanle Ajayi for the successful hosting of the event.
Hon. Salami noted that under the current economic hardship in the country, if one is not determined, it would be difficult to fulfill the electoral promises made to the electorate, but commended the lawmaker for putting at heart the welfare of her people.
While praying that God continued to guide and protect Hon. Lateefat Ajayi in her service to humanity, the YSLG boss called on the people of the constituency to rally support for the present administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun in his determination to develop the state.
A councillor in the local government Hon. Olugbemide Emmanuel also commended Hon. Lateefat Ajayi for putting smile on the faces of the people of her constituency.
The councillor said the gesture will go a lo g way to assist the beneficiaries in supporting their businesses, saying, “the people who voted for her didn’t lost their votes. During the electioneering campaign she told the people what she was going to do and that is exactly what she has started doing now.
“With this empowerment, people won’t be able to knock on anybody’s door to beg for assistance, relatively, they will be comfortable at their various homes and feed their family. Hon. Lateefat Bolanle Ajayi is a good representative.”
One of the beneficiaries of the empowerment, Alhaja Kudirat Opeloyeru from Ward 2 in Yewa South local government said she is very happy for what Hon. Lateefat Ajayi have done and also called on other notable individuals to emulate the virtues of the Amazon woman.
The event was later turned into carnival as beneficiaries of the largess and guests were seen hugging the lawmaker and danced to the musical rendition supplied by an Ilaro-based disk-jockey and trumpeters.
It would be recalled that Hon. Lateefat Bolanle Ajayi during the total lockdown in the country as a result of the covid-19 pandemic came to the rescue of the people of her constituency as she distributed various types of palliative to cushioned the effect of the global crisis.
