IBADAN – A photo journalists with the SUN newspaper in Ibadan, Gbenga Olugbodi has become the Vice Chairman of Sport Writers Association of Nigeria, (SWAN), Oyo State chapter.
Olugbodi was elected unopposed on Thursday, February 18, 2021, during SWAN Congress held at the premises of the Nigerian Union Of Journalists (NUJ), Iyaganku, Ibadan.
Chairman of t Oyo State SWAN, Niyi Alebiosu while speaking after the swearing in of the newly Vice Chairman together with other elected exco, noted that the election become necessary to filled the vacant positions in the exco with a view to move the association forward.
Alebiosu lamented the low turnout of members during the Congress, calling on them to unite and come together to fight for the same course to restored the glory of the association.
His words, “Oyo SWAN used to be at the forefront of sport in Nigeria before, we need to come together and reclaimed our glory, let’s all hands be on deck so that we can achieved our aims and objectives.”
Others officers are, Blessing Fowowe (Assistant Secretary), Olawale Hamzat (Financial Secretary) while Ola Olarewaju bags Ex-Officio Member.
In his speech, the newly elected SWAN Vice Chairman thanked the association and Oyo NUJ for giving him opportunity to served, pledging his committeemen towards moving the association forward.
