AYETORO-YEWA – Monarchs in Yewa North Local Government of Ogun State have called for peaceful co-existence among residents and Fulani herdsmen in the council area, with a charge on security men to ensure adequate protection of lives and property.
According to a release jointly e-signed and made available to StarTrend Int’l & online – www.startrendinternational.com by Lateef Akintunde, ZIO, Ayetoro, Yewa North LG, the monarchs who believe that, no meaningful development could be achieved in an atmosphere of rancor, bore their minds while addressing pressmen in their palaces.
Alademeso of Igan Alade, Oba Gabriel Olalowo disclosed that the Council is blessed with hardworking farmers, who have been cohabiting with Fulani herdsmen for a long time and even inter-marry, without crises, charging everyone to maintain peace.
Eselu of Iselu, Oba Adeyemi Akintunde and Abepa of Joga Orile, Oba Adeyemi Adekeye called on Government at all levels in the country to create more awareness in the media on peace and value for peaceful co-existence by discouraging ethnic rivalries, killings, as well as other religious intolerances.
“All stakeholders must rise to the occasion to play their parts in engendering a more peaceful coexistence and by extension one Nigeria”, he said.
Also speaking, the Araba Ode (Hunters) of Yewaland and Head Security Group, lmeko-Afon/Yewa North, Chief Sanya Ogungbe while giving assurance over security of lives and property, said they had been complimenting the efforts of all security agencies in his jurisdiction, as series of meetings and collaborations had been made to ensure peace in the area.
Ogungbe further, pledged hunters’ support for the present administration of Gov Dapo Abiodun in his quest to make life worth living for rural communities across the state.
