ABEOKUTA – Prof. Joseph Odemuyiwa, the Special Adviser to the Governor Dapo Abiodun on Technical Education, has described Wessy Creation Institute, Ibara, Abeokutaan accredited institution for the training of people in fashion and textile design.
Odemuyiwa who made this known while on a working visit with his team to Wessy Creation Institute, Ibara, Abeokuta, on Monday, February 1, 2021, explained that it was imperative to encourage the founder and others, by providing an enabling environment that would make them to thrive.
He said that the State government is fully ready to develop technical education at all levels, within public and private sectors, with the vision to train 5,000 youths, in order to make them self-sufficient, self-reliant and contribute their quotas economically to the State.
The Special Adviser to Governor Abiodun of Ogun State further stated that the notion was in line with quality assurance for the certification of training centres for artisans and craftmanship in the State.
He noted that technical education would help the industrial sub-sectors and improve the overall economy of the State, if properly developed and harnessed to meet international standards.
Responding, the Chairman, Wessy Creation Group of Companies, Otunba Wasiu Taiwo, who hailed the State government for developing technical education, stated that Nigeria is blessed with vibrant youths who love fashion, saying support from government and other stakeholders would take the fashion industry to greater height.
He urged the Federal Government to tap into opportunities available in the industry to provide jobs for the teeming youths in the country, noting that the establishment of entrepreneurship acquisitions for the youths would reduce unemployment in the country.
