Ogun IPAC Sets Up Interim Committee, As Adeshina Emerges Chairman, Vows To Be Magnanimous In Victory

ABEOKUTA: The 18 political parties that scaled through recent deregistration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ogun state on Monday, June 15,”2020, set up an Interim Management Committee for the Ogun state chapter of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC).

The Chairman of Labour Party in the state, Comrade Abayomi Arabambi said the decision was reached by the remaining 18 politiical parties at an emergency meeting held to review the deregistration of politiical parties by INEC on February 6, 2020 over their inability to fulfil requirements based on Section 225A of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

Members of the committee include Asiwaju Abdul-Lateef Adeshina Adedamola of Young Progressive Party (YPP) as Chairman, Prince Wale Adebisi of Accord Party (AP) as Secretary.

Others include: Mr. Okusanya Samson of People’s Redemption Party (PRP) as Treasurer, Mr. Oyejide Sunkanmi of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kazeem Niniola of African Action Congress (AAC) State Organising/Welfare Secretary, Mrs. Mojisola Kasali of New Nigeria Peoples Party (Gender & Disability), and Otunba Ayo Jinadu of Social Democratic Party (SDP) as Financial Secretary.

The Chairman of the Interim committee, Asiwaju Adeshina in his acceptance speech expressed gratitude to the chairmen of the surviving politiical parties for giving him the honour to lead the Committee.

Speaking further, Asiwaju Adesina said the committee would commence work immediately with INEC, the 74 deregistered politiical parties, other stakeholders including the Ogun state government for a more prosperous Ogun state.

“As the umbrella of politiical parties in Ogun State, it is our responsibility to make necessary recommendations to the goverment and other stakeholders for a better Ogun state,” he said.

The meeting had in attendance representatives of various security agencies.
