COVID 19 Lockdown: Foundation Donates Food Items To Journalists In Ogun

Alhaji Mutiu Amode, representative of the Otunba Ajera Adegbenro Foundation (OOAF), presents the relief packages to Comrade (Mrs.) Omolola Adeyinka, Caretaker Chairperson of the NUJ, Ogun State Chapter.

ABEOKUTA: As the lockdown continues in Ogun, Lagos and Abuja as directed by the Federal Government, the Otunba Ajera Adegbenro Foundation (OOAF) has donated food items to Journalists in Ogun state to survive in the pandemic situation.

Speaking during the distribution which took place at the Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Abeokuta, the State capital on Wednesday, April 29, 2020, the Caretaker Chairperson of the Union, Mrs. Omolola Adeyinka argued that among the vulnerable groups in the country are the Journalists as they are exposed to danger in the course of their reportorial duties.

Mrs. Adeyinka stressed that amidst the novel Covid-19 situation, government must give Journalists a sense of belonging.

She stressed that while others continue to stay indoor to prevent themselves from contacting the deadly virus, Journalists are out feeding the people reports on the current situation.

The representative of the Foundation, Alhaji Mutiu Amode who in his speech stressed that the foundation was committed to supporting the government efforts in making sure the vulnerable groups are properly taken care of in this situation.

Amode lamented that a lot of Nigerians are living in starvation during this pandemic period, adding a lots of lives have been lost as a result.

He equally argued that Journalists must be well treated as they still go about reporting the situation to the public not minding the danger inherent at this period.

He therefore pledged the Foundation’s supports for Journalists even after the COVID19 era.
