The National Association of Yewa Students (NAYES) has called for collective responsibility among stakeholders to uplift the standard of education in Yewaland.

This appeal was made during the Yewa Education Summit, held on April 15th and 16th, 2025, at the Raheem Oloyo International Conference Center, Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro.

The NAYES National President, Prince Faruq Tella, alongside his executive team, fully participated in the two-day summit, which brought together thought leaders, traditional rulers, educators, and youth representatives from across Yewaland.

A statement released by Comrd. Adebiyi Gabriel, NAYES National Public Relations Officer, and made available to StarTrend Int’l Magazine, confirmed the association’s engagement in the event.

With the theme: “Repositioning Education in Yewaland: Challenges and Prospects”, the summit offered a platform to examine grassroots challenges and develop practical strategies for transforming education in the region.

As part of the summit’s outcomes, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, MFR, Paramount Ruler of Yewaland and Life Patron of NAYES, declared a state of emergency on education in the region.

The monarch called on all Yewa students pursuing education-related courses to demonstrate patriotism by actively participating in teaching, mentoring, and youth grooming efforts within their communities.

During his address, Comrd. (Prince) Faruq Tella expressed gratitude to the Yewa People Development Council (YPDC) and the Summit Planning Committee for their vision and commitment to education.

He also shared highlights from NAYES’ recent sensitization programmes and its free JAMB form initiative, which targeted students from selected secondary schools across Yewaland as part of efforts to improve access to tertiary education.

Prince Tella emphasized that while the efforts were commendable, it became clear that challenges such as lack of proper infrastructure, inadequate teaching aids, and the low enthusiasm of some students towards furthering their education must urgently be addressed.

The President of NAYES was accompanied by key officers, including the Vice President, Comr. Idowu Rotimi; Treasurer, Comr. Bamgboye Idris; Sports Director, Comr. Akintola Abdul Azeem; Welfare Director, Comr. Saka Faisat; NAYES FPI Chapter President, Comr. John; FPI Students’ Union President and Speaker, Aare Ogun FPI; and several other dedicated members.

NAYES remains committed to partnering with stakeholders to champion the cause of education in Yewaland, believing that through collective responsibility, a brighter future can be secured for the region.
