ILARO-YEWA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – The Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has declared his readiness to serve beyond the Senate if called upon by his people.
Senator Adeola made this known on Friday, January 16, 2026, during the Ogun West Senatorial Stakeholders Engagement Meeting held in Ilaro-Yewa, Ogun State.
The meeting brought together political leaders, party executives, and community representatives to assess the state of development across the senatorial district.
Speaking at the gathering, Senator Adeola stated that he had done his utmost to justify the confidence reposed in him by the people of Ogun West, stressing that his focus had consistently been on delivering tangible dividends of democracy to all local government areas within the district.
He added that should the people deem him fit for higher responsibility, he would be ready and willing to serve.
Senator Adeola Yayi’s declaration was greeted with loud applause from stakeholders, an apparent endorsement of what many described as his next political assignment.
In her remarks, former Minister of State for Education and elder stateswoman of Ogun State, Senator (Chief) Mrs. Veronica Iyabo Anisulowo, commended Senator Adeola Yayi for his extensive developmental interventions across the district.
She noted that the scale, spread, and consistency of projects executed during his tenure had clearly distinguished his representation from previous ones.
Drawing from her experience as a former senator between 2003 and 2007, Anisulowo said Ogun West had never witnessed development interventions of such magnitude and coordination, describing the projects as clear evidence of purposeful leadership and a deep commitment to public service.
Also speaking at the event, the Minister of State, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, said the impressive turnout of leaders at the engagement reflected the unity and political preparedness of Ogun West.
He expressed his support for calls urging Senator Adeola to assume higher responsibility, noting that such backing was anchored on his visible and measurable achievements across the district and beyond.
Salako emphasized that effective leadership deserves greater responsibility, especially when performance is widely acknowledged by the people.
The stakeholders’ meeting also resolved to intensify grassroots mobilisation for the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) membership registration, urging residents to actively participate in the process.
Participants further urged eligible citizens to obtain their National Identification Number (NIN) and Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to strengthen democratic participation in the district.
The event was attended by several prominent APC political figures across the Ogun West Senatorial District, reinforcing the growing sentiment that the zone is canvassing and mobilising support for Senator Adeola Yayi to assume the governorship mantle of Ogun State come 2027.
