2026 FCAIB First Working Day Prayer Meeting: Provost Atungwu Urges Staff To Embrace Punctuality, Kindness and Faithfulness In 2026

IBADAN, OYO STATE, NIGERIA – The Provost of the centenarian Federal College of Agriculture, Ibadan (FCAIB), Prof. Jonathan J. Atungwu, has emphasized three core values – punctuality, kindness and faithfulness – as guiding principles for staff in the year 2026.

This was contained in a press statement e-signed and made available to the media by the Head, Public Relations Unit of the College, Mrs. Oyekemi Wilson.

According to the statement, Prof. Atungwu made the call in an address delivered on his behalf by the Deputy Provost (Administration), Dr. Musliu O. Adenekan, on Monday, January 5, 2026, during the institution’s first working-day prayer meeting for the year.

Prof. Atungwu explained that punctuality enhances productivity and efficiency, kindness promotes a positive and compassionate working environment, while faithfulness fosters commitment, integrity and excellence in service delivery across the institution.

The prayer meeting brought together members of Management and staff of the IAR&T community, comprising the Federal College of Agriculture, Ibadan (FCAIB), the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training (IAR&T), and the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology (FCAHPT).

The gathering was aimed at committing the new year into God’s hands, while seeking divine guidance for growth, unity, peace and collective progress within the IAR&T community.

Prayers were offered in both Christian and Muslim traditions, creating an atmosphere of inclusivity, unity and spiritual harmony.

The event also featured praise and worship sessions, during which staff members expressed gratitude for the achievements of the previous year and reaffirmed their faith for a prosperous 2026.

Goodwill messages were delivered by representatives of various labour unions from FCAIB, FCAHPT and IAR&T.

They urged their members to uphold diligence, punctuality and uprightness in the discharge of their duties, in order to enhance productivity and ensure effective representation across all departments.
In attendance at the prayer session were members of the Colleges’ and Institutes’ Management, Deputy Directors, Deans, Heads of Departments, Heads of Units and other staff in large numbers.

Dignitaries present included the Provost of the Federal College of Agriculture, Ibadan, Prof. Jonathan J. Atungwu, ably represented by Dr. Musliu O. Adenekan; the Director of the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training, Prof. G. A. Oluwatosin; and the Provost of the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Dr. Chidi Okpeze, among others.

The prayer session provided the IAR&T community with an opportunity to look ahead with optimism, faith and renewed commitment to a productive, peaceful and prosperous 2026, God willing.
