IBADAN – A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain in Oyo state, Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeniyan has described Chief Bayo Lawal, the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters as i”rrelevant and valueless”.
Olopoeniyan said this on Saturday, October 31, 2020, in Ibadan while reacting to a statement credited to the Commissioner.
It would be recalled that Lawal had during a radio programme Fresh FM, monitored in Ibadan on Saturday, described Olopoeniyan and other aggrieved PDP members as political chickens who lacks maturity.
He said that Lawal was nowhere to be found when they were working for the emergence of Gov. Seyi Makinde, describing him as “an ingrate and accidental commissioner”.
In his words, “Lawal was nowhere to be found when we were working for the emergence of Gov. Seyi Makinde.
“It was then that myself, Chief Bisi Ilaka, Hon. Mulikat Akande-Adeola, Sen. Hosea Agboola, Alhaji Sharafadeen Alli and others formed ‘Oyo First’. It was Ilaka that brought Bayo Lawal to join us then,” Olopoeniyan said.
He said further, “Kindly ask Bayo Lawal where he was then? In that ‘Oyo First’, Akande-Adeola was the Chairman and Chief Bisi Ilaka was the Secretary,” he said.
Olopoeniyan continued, “Lawal had shown that he was an ingrate by saying he didn’t gain anything from Ladoja.
“He has forgotten that Ladoja made him Commissioner when he was the Governor and he didn’t even say anything about Chief Yekeen Adeojo who happens to be his benefactor.”
Olopoeniyan said that there are two categories of elders, the good and bad, adding Lawal belongs to the bad category.
“Bayo Lawal didn’t win his ward as a senatorial candidate under Accord Party in 2011, I won it. I have the record,” he said.
He said that he would not allow an accidental Commissioner like Lawal disrupt the ongoing reconciliation effort of their good elders like Dr. Saka Balogun.
“The reconciliation team by Dr Balogun and other good elders is going on well. Lawal should just go and sit down and stop saying what the governor did not send him,” he posited.
